Archeology And Biology
You don't often think of those two things working in close concert, but here's a nifty little article about how the author used them hand in hand to explain a small mystery that goes back almost 2000 years.

In a word: Cool.
My question becomes, what would have happened to the local environment had this been a more invasive or disruptive species, along the lines of a zebra mussel. Incidents like this prove that species contamination was highly possible all across the known world. Which situations and species, considered to be in a natural place today, were accidentally introduced in the past? Can any famines or trade disruptions be pinpointed to an invasive plant or animal species disrupting a normal food chain?
